Situation of Hungarian panel buildings

There are more than 2 million people in Hungary, who are living in planel flats. Panel-rehabilitation is a very important technical, economical and social task.

This category does not contain only the 'real' panel buildings, but it includes also those living-houses, which were bulit by industrialized technology (e.g. block-, cast-, tunnel-shuttered-, ferro-concrete skeleton-houses).

508 thousand panel flats were built in Hungary, and 272 thousand flats by industrialized technology. When I say panel-houses, I think of these (780 thousand) ones.

The 4 million flats in Hungary were made by approximately 20% of industrialized technology. 800 thousand flats can be found in Budapest, of which 200 thousand are panel-flats. We have to give new life for these homes.

The complex rehabilitation of the panel-houses and town-districts became the most important purpose.
It is supported by expertal and technical examinations and the regular and major quantity of energy loss, but the most pressing problem is the declining welfare of the inhabitants.

The panel rehabilitation is a technical and economical question, but it has social relation too. It is common knowledge that approximately 2100000 people live in panel-houses in Hungary, that's why the Panel Program is a very important part of the National FlatProgram.
